Modern Pop Art -style drawing I made. À la Juxtapoz, what do you think?
I was just playing with shapes and rythms.
What do you see in it?

A Flyer me and my wife did. They wanted a caricature of the actor, with a handmade feel with the style of a circus. I somehow like the general feel of it. What do you think?

Something classical art this time. Pencil on paper. Scanned and level adjustment in Gimp.
I wanted to test how well I remember the external human anatomy, and ended up with my version of Zeus. He pulls the lightning from his hair. No reference or model of any kind was used.
As a self taught artist, I had to build a solid understanding of the laws of nature, to be able to create art in it’s various ways.
I have the deepest respect to Michelangelo’s understanding of muscular anatomy, mass and shape. He was very observant and talented man.

This is a skin tone test I did. I tried to do it visually appealing, without resorting to using very high contrasts. I wanted it to have a somewhat etherreal feeling to it.
I didn’t use any reference either, so it’s not really photoreal. But I think it’s not too clumsy either. I used more subtle features, so the character is a bit androgynic.
Maby i’ll do it in oils, and call it contemporary?
More Surreal Connections.

As I used watercolor and airbrush, interesting visions came to be,,, It describes how we have different sides to us. Sometimes my mind is set on concrete things, and others times, I throw out stuff straight from the top of my hat. And that’s the way I learn to know myself. At the beginning everything is vague, but starts to make sense, on a closer inspection.

An Airbrush WIP.

A cartoony airbrush WIP (Work-In-Progress). I think it could be named something like “Car-Ton”. It has references to pop culture, but without repeating it. I guess somebody might categorize it as contemporary abstract-surreal pop art. To tell the truth, I don’t categorize my art. I think (like memes) art is the sum of past, with a direction to the future.
It’s a lot harder to do paintings there and then, but it’s the only way to be fully creative (at least to me).
If only I knew how to continue with it,,, Tell me if it touches a nerve.

To me, many things look like something else, that they are supposed to be. That’s why I make art. The first time I saw this, I knew I had to photograph it.
I photographed this one last summer, a year ago, in Finnish archipelago. It’s an old timber house, with an old combustion engine water pump. It works as a great example, about how long human made complexity still echoes, even when left untouched for decades.
It kind of looks like an old robot. It reminded me of Laputa: Castle in the Sky, an animated film by Hayao Miyazaki.

What Do You See In It?
Seemingly chaotic.
Ink to watercolour paper, and some eraser work, to bring out the organic texture of the paper. I see many things in it, what about you? Look at it closer, it may start to move…
