I’ve been organizing an event with Markus Renvall. It’s Media Art UP!
A new type of an exhibition and an event for new media art.
Here is the press release (PDF).
I coded the web page & made the graphics.
http://media-art-up.com/ (only in finnish, sorry!)
The venue of the event is the Cable Factory in Helsinki, Finland.
I made a few new pieces to exhibit there. The “Mood” was a very tough one to conceive especially!
The disputing heads are screens, playing ID Software’s Doom game!
A brightly lit photo below. The exhibition lighting setup is more a favourable one.
Clicking the image brings a bit larger view of the piece.
Doing this, I ended up thinking about stereotypes, responsibility and social pressure, but it has elements and room for interpretation.
It took some 10 intense painting sessions to get it where it is.
It’s available in (insanely high resolution) physical format as well.
If you like it, feel free to share the link etc. I like to hear what people think, feel & see in this stuff.
I have projects where I’m using this piece, so stay tuned!
Now this is the first of a kind for me. It was made digitally, with a Wacom Intuos Drawpad. It’s really important to me, and it works really well on a huge print, and when projected. None of the shapes are there by accident. Every shape has a connection, and a reason. A media installation as a never-ending dive in to the details of the image is also obtainable.
Here’s a detail of his head.
He is hidden, but still, you can see him. He can only be seen from his actions.
